A man enjoys a cigarette in between rounds of kava with friends. Kava, though traditionally drank at ceremonies or important occasions, is a social activity that many do in Navala to pass the time. As a subsistence farming based community, most men work on the ranch or farm to provide for their family. On afternoons off, such as this one, it is not uncommon for groups of individuals to gather in a bure (traditional Fijian house) and have a few rounds of kava whilst exchanging jokes to unwind.
