Muchu Picchu

PERU | Saturday, 20 November 2010 | Views [190]

Today the family and my grandma and grandpa went to Machu Picchu. We got up at 6 so we could get up there first before the huge crowds. I was expecting to get cold so I had a jacket and pants in my bag, but it was really hot the entire day. When we got there my mom was happy because it wasn't crowded, I still thought it was. I thought there would only be about 150 people there but there was roughly 400. It was really fun hiking around the ruins and seeing how they lived and what the purpose of Machu Picchu was. It was an Inca university. At it's time, only 300 Incas lived up there. Machu Picchu wasn't discovered until in 1911, Hiram Bingham announced his discovery. After the hike, my dad, brother and I went to the massage parlour next door to our hotel. We all got massages for $20 for an hour. It was really cheap I thought, but it was also really relaxing. All in all, it was a great day of hiking and relaxing.
