I left Amsterdam today for a stay in Dordrecht – about an hour south of the Dutch capital. Another town – another adventure. I still get anxious when taking public transport in an unfamiliar town, especially in another language. Fortunately I took the correct tram, train and bus to get where I needed to go. The biggest hassle is, of course, this huge back pack. It is huge by necessity and while I know that people write/say you should take the smallest back pack possible, I genuinely don’t understand how you can travel for 12 months without one of the larger ones. Anyway I have this pack, I need this pack and, sometimes, I curse this pack. It is cumbersome to wander around a city with 20kg on your back and I know my spine will never forgive me. On the upside, most people are very helpful when they see you lugging your life on your back like an oversized turtle!
