Museum Day

CANADA | Tuesday, 9 February 2010 | Views [293]

Museum day today, well, two actually. Well, only one so far but am sitting across the street from number two, waiting until the admission price becomes ‘pay-what-you-can’. I’m finding that many of these attractions have ‘pay-what-you-can’ days/hours. Many of these times are only advertised on their specific websites and not on travel/tourist sites.

So the textile museum first up today (which I was lucky enough to go to for free thanks to my Couch Surfing host) and like so many museums, I find myself fading after an hour and a half and inevitably not seeing everything. What I did see was great and I learned about the origins of paisley – it’s a town in Scotland that became known for its mass production of Kashmir-like shawls.

I decided to treat myself to a coffee and a light meal. I know I should be saving every penny but … oh, I don’t know, this menu just looked so good that I had to try something. The meal was great, the coffee was great and now on to the shoe museum.
