Nelson- art everywhere!

NEW ZEALAND | Tuesday, 28 October 2008 | Views [367]

The map of Nelson's art galleries looks like a child went mad with coloured stickers-  it’d be easier to say which weren’t anything to do with art!  Even the not traditionally arty we joining in- we nearly wandered into a bank that had some art in the window,  clothes shops incorporated art int their window displays and in the Cathedral were many pieces by local artists.  I’m used to seeing religious pictures in churches, but this contemporary collection made the place feel really alive and part of the community.  I can't imagine what it would be like to live here if you weren't an artist, perhaps everyone just catches the art bug when they get here?  I certainly feel inspired!
