Kutching

Hi All,

Forgot to mention. Sarawak and Sabah are semi autonomous states so stamp you in and out. A bit odd considering they are part of Malasia.

Decided to catch a taxi to town. The taxi mafia had control of the airport so there was no negotiating. Got to our hostel and they were having trouble understanding the concept of online booking. I thought that they were not going to honour it but eventually after multiple people getting involved we were given a room. A delux room. Hmmm. Not a winner at all. Toilet leaked, Shower leaked onto the floor, had a banana bed etc. Got up in the morning for our included breakfast to find there was nothing. A staff person disappeared and came back with some crackers. We declined. Decided it was time to find another hostel and found an area with lots of them and it wasnt too hard to find a nice one. We signed up with the friendly chinese girl with the betty boo voice. Went back and checked out the hostel and walked to the bus station. It wasnt clear where to catch the bus bus a local pointed us in the right direction and we were on our way to Bako national park.

Kutching is a very cool town. It has an art feel about it and is very relaxed. We will be back after our visit to the national park.

Bye,

David and Vanessa
