Hi all,
Day trip to Karlštejn
Castle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl%C5%A1tejn
This is a great castle and we did the boring tour which unfortunately didn´t cover the Chapel of the holy rood which was closed down for the winter. Lunch by the river, tomato soup and extra salty bread which the ducks enjoyed more than us. It was a pleasant day out.
Next day.
Day trip to Český
Krumlov
Vanessa did a little online research and found that there was a day pass for the train which saved us about 50% of our expeced cost. A shame that the information couldn´t have told us this information.

Long trip for a day trip but the lonely planet made it sound great. We travelled for 4hrs to get to the town and when we saw it we both went ´we came all this way for this?´ One of the drawcards for us was an moat which contained brown bears rather than water but when we looked it seemed that the bears were gone even though they were supposed to be there until the end of the month. We walked through the castle and found a nice vantage point for lunch. Unfortunately plenty of chinese tourists were there taking pictures. Solution was to start coughing as if I had the flu to clear the area. Much better without the chatter. Walked around the old town below the castle. We checked the castle moat again on the way out saw that there was a bear wandering around for a few minutes before it disappeared again. Quite nice and we enjoyed spotting the large brown trout from the bridge over the river connecting the castle side to the town side. Spent about 2.5 hrs at the town so it was a long day.
Tomorrow we head to Krakow, Poland.
Bye,
David and Vanessa
