Hola All,
Well we are now the owners of a new canon IS s5 camera. The S2 and S3 both have died due to the dreaded E18 lens error which appears to be some kind of grit in the lens mechanism. Hope the trend does not continue. I stripped the S2 down to the lens mechanism but couldn`t find anything wrong with it other than having too many screws when the reassembly was complete. Still works but no zoom and I will have to pull it to bits again to investigate the lens mechanism and find where the extra screws go!
Went out the elaborate cemetery again today. Apparently one of the most beautiful in South America with it`s big family monuments and rows of tree. There is a statue of the one and only indigeneous (indio) person buried there and it is supposed to bring good luck by leaving a present and touching the statue. Plenty have touched it as the right foot is quite shiny. I touched it and hoped that the australian dollar would rise strongly. Vanessa wouldn`t touch probably thinking of the grubby hands that had touched it before me or was it my grubby hands that she was worried about?
There is a tomb nearby which has a tragic tale. It displays a photo of a happy bride throwing the bouquet over her shoulder. Unfortunately about 2 seconds later she died persumably slipping over backwards and hitting her head on the ground. Her husband committed suicide about 3 months later no doubt stricken with grief.
Off to catch the ferry at 6pm.
Adios,
David & Vanessa
