In 15th century Turks invaded Bosnia and glagolitic preists fleed from Poljica to Brač, where the duke of Brač gave them a piece of land and premission to settle. Settling in the caves, they founded the monastic cooperative and begin to cultivate the land.In 1570th they buildt a monastery and a church, and increased their holdings. They developed trade and for a long time this desert was one of the biggest businesses on the island. Blaca were also famous for the first opservatory in this region.
