Weddings in this island last 8 days and the couple must remain sitting like that. They don't use invitations, all the people in the island (about 2.200) must go to the wedding party. Every guest has to attach money to their clothes and they will be provided with food and drinks. 35 sheeps had been killed for this unique wedding.

This Island is protected by the UNESCO because their people are known for their fine handwoven textiles and clothing, regarded as some of the finest quality handy crafts in the world. Their textile art is produced as an everyday activity, mostly by men and children and worn by all members of the community. In fact, males have to needle the dress for their future wife.

According to their ancient laws and traditions, the couple getting married are not allowed to stand up or dance, but guests can! The husband and wife must remain sitting while everyone celebrates. This is so strict that they even have to be fed by their relatives.
