How to spend your redundancy settlement

Paraty

It was a nice early start as we wanted to catch the 10:00 ferry.

There were 7 of us who decided to transfer together, safety in numbers and all that, we knew otherwise we would ll get lost.

After the ferry we got a bus to Partay. It was a public bus so not too pleasant for the next 2 hours of my life. Paraty is a colonial town of cobbles and old buildings and it used to be a port for the gold trade. Once i arrived i founded a hostel from Tourist Information. It turned out that the hostel was a bit shit as there was no one else there so i only stayed one night before transferring to a party hostel.

The following day i walked around Paraty, not much to see, so went to the beach and finished 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'. I also went and checked into my new hostel that actually ha signs of life. After a bit more of a wander i bumped into a guy called Phil who i recognised from Ilha Grande so we went for a beer. In the evening we met up with everyone that got the ferry together and went for dinner. We heard that the burger van was fantastic and cheep as chips so we all went there. The rumors weren't wrong and the food was brilliant.

The next day i booked my bus to Sao Paulo, a jeep safari and sorted some issues out.

The Jeep safari was a great laugh. It started strangely with a trip to the garden center but they had some cool plants so never mind. After we went to a waterfall and had a swim. We then moved on to another waterfall that had a rope swing, Megga fun, and had another swim. After we went to a Cecacca museum. This is a local alcoholic drink made from sugar cane. It tastes like crap as most local drinks do. We then headed off for lunch witch was in a nice restaurant on the side of the river. After lunch we went to a waterfall that had a natural slide. This was cool but what made it was that the guides had worked out how to go down on their feet and do tricks into the water.

the day was really good and a good way to chill out whilst expelling some energy.

Tomorrow I'm off to Sao Paulo on the 8:30 bus so that'll be fun. it appartently takes 6 hours. YAY!!!
