Ballestas Islands and the Desert

UNITED KINGDOM | Thursday, 29 July 2010 | Views [185]

Today was an early start and we headed off to Paracas to get on a boat to the Ballestas Islands. These islands are also referred to as the "Poor Mans Galapagos". They were really cool and had loads of cool animals on them including birds, sea lions and penguins.

Once we returned to land we went to a local restaurant overlooking the beach and had lunch. I had a grilled fish with rice which is pretty cool for me and it was actually really nice.

In the afternoon we went to Huacachina to go sand buggying/boarding and then camping in the desert. This was amazing. The sand buggying was insane we went out in 2 cars and the driver just went nuts over the dunes. A few times we stopped off and went down the dunes on our belly on a board. Uber cool. We then went to where the guides have set up the food and fire. for dinner we had chicken and SAUSAGES!!!! the sausages were gooooood.

We then rolled out our sleeping baggs and slept under the stars in the middle of the dessert. Fu**ing cold but great fun
