It has been an experience so far, that may even be an understatement, andit's only been roughly a day and a half! Italy is full of surprises everywhere you turn and it makes this whole trip exciting.
My day went something like this:
Get up at 7:30 am, eat breakfast, went to walk around the city and visit the farmacia and super market, class from 12-4pm, get dinner wither friend, take a small tour of the city on the way to the mercato centralé, bought some Italian scarves, came back to the hotel and like good students we did our homework, and to end the day we went to the club Yab.
Geesh, that was a LONG day! But I think it's worth it to do as much as I possibly can while I'm here, because who knows whether I'll ever come back again?
I have to say that the biggest surprise to me is that on one corner you have there old rustic shops that are in "closets" as my program director would say, and on another corner there is a brand new hipster store with a chandelier and marble floors! And the holdings I have to say are really cool. So unique and historically beautiful! Why are Americans so lazy when it comes to making a home into a piece of art? And of course I don't mean the whole of American home design, but where I'm from a home is a place you keep all your junk and sleep at night, not a place to take pride in like some, not all, of these Italians do.
I think I could go on forever but I think you get the point. Well, that's all for today! Off to class and to explore the wonderful city of Florence! Ciao!
