Cocuy: A Quest For Snow Under The Tropics

As the ascent proceeded, vegetation started fading. Distant clouds approached and the wind came with ferocity. With the clouds absorbing us, the monumental landscape becomes a vast void, more indifferent to life as the altitude rises. Even Frailejones and moss, in their silent struggle against the hostility of the mountain, speak of a duration way longer than a human life: these majestic plants in the distance grow only one centimeter a year, they have been standing long before this land was called Colombia.
