My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm likely a bit older than the average - in my youth I had no choice but to work on a 'non-creative' path. Sometimes I look back on this as a waste of time; but in truth the memory of the frustration of not doing what I knew I was passionate about fuels my determination to do what makes me happy. Soon as I was able, I started again. Now I'm a Photography student in the UK where I love the freedom I am given to explore myself creatively and experiment with expressing this photographically.
Not from a British background, I grew up not really belonging to any one place. This wasn't a negative - it gave me the insider's perspective to study and compare two different lands. An early fascination with travel and cultures was born. I've travelled extensively; but merely visiting was not enough. Not until discovering photography did I realise how to go deeper – the camera was my way to really study and explore. Moving towards the end of my degree I realise my learning has only just begun. I really believe working with and observing someone of Jason's calibre is invaluable in my development - for practical knowledge, professionalism and delivering in the challenging conditions of the field.
