My Scholarship entry - Rural life around Mulshi Valley
India | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
Originally, photography was a merely intuitive process; yet after being exposed to India's cultural diversity for 3 years, working for my school's newspaper and darkroom and leading a Photography Club, composing images has become a very conscious action and an inherent part of my interaction with my surroundings.
Greenland promises untouched nature and authentic cultural traditions; I could hence explore new subjects and methods of photography that would enrich my understanding of it. Receiving guidance and criticism from a professional perspective would be of great use to improve my skills and refine my approach; and the practical experience and insight I would gain could help me to effectively and aesthetically communicate the stories of both ex-members of violent gangs in Guatemala and indigenous people in the Amazon- my two main projects for the upcoming year. Ultimately, this could take my photography further, maximizing the positive social and environmental impact I aim to exercise.
The value I see in this opportunity and my enthusiasm for this art would translate into exceptional commitment, as I would make efforts both to assist Jason Edwards and to develop my potential.
