My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Japan | Friday, June 14, 2013 | 5 photos
I have always loved photographs. Staring at them as a child, I would become lost in their stories. I could feel the air and smell the earth. I dodged bullets. Watched the light dim on Africa. The images let me travel.
Two years ago I decided to stop just staring. I realized to be a photographer I needed to work toward it everyday with all my energy. So I gave up everything so I could photograph full-time. I now photograph everyday, exchanging sleep, food and free time for the chance to get a shot. I am finally doing something I truly love with all my heart and have never enjoyed anything more.
Having no formal training, I will benefit greatly from this scholarship and feel that this will be a great experience to help start my career and I will use the scholarship to its fullest. Being able to work under and aid such a respected and driven photographer as Jason Edwards in the beauty of Greenland will be a truly life changing experience which I will approach with the utmost respect and willingness to learn. This is my chance to become the photographer I dream of and share my vision with the world. I want to now let others travel through my photographs.
