Members of the Wati family place root vegetables on hot stones to cook for a traditional meal. Behind us, groups of tourists are seen walking by.

A house sits alone as tourists pass on the Salkantay trail – their money has been spent back in the major city of Cusco.

Pack mules are a common sight on the Salkantay trail. Often they are carrying supplies for the many tourists making their way to Machu Picchu.
