Trip on LSD

USA | Thursday, 30 August 2007 | Views [774]

We took a short trip on foot down Lake Shore Drive, Chicago's highway along the edge of Lake Michigan. Starting from Michigan Avenue we made our way through Grant Park - where we gatecrashed a fairly tame freshers party for some Chicago university. We ambled along Lake Michigan towards Navy Pier and around to North Shore Beach. Eventually we found ourselves back on Michigan Avenue at the John Hancock Tower - named for one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence - which we climbed (as always, in the lift) to the 94th floor, where we got the most amazing views of Chicago, as well as clips of further stretches of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.

(Un)fortunately, the same part of Michigan Avenue is home to the types of exclusive shops you find on New York's Fifth Avenue - giving Ruth the opportunity to plan tomorrow's activities.
