My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

These two girls are trying to sell various handy crafts to fellow tourists. While they appear to be above the poverty line, you can still see the desperation in her eyes; no doubt her lively hood depends on this sale. I chose this photo because of the emotion you can see in her eyes and also because for someone from a Western country where education is free to all, it's hard to see a young girl working instead of learning and being empowered.
