We left San Pedro de Atacama, Chile on March 1st with a 3 day tour through the Nationalparks of Bolivia and through the worlds biggest Salt Desert to Uyuni in Bolivia. We were 12 people with 2 jeeps. The 3 days were quite excausting, we always got up very early in the mornings and we sleept in basic accomodation with 6 people in a room with beds out of stone (like the Flinstons). The first day we drove by Laguna verde to the Laguna Colorado were we spent the first night (4500 meters above sea level). We coulden't breathe in the night so everybody was snoring. The second day we visited Arbolde de la Piedra and other nice lagunas with flamingos. The second night we stayed at a salt hotel, everything is made of salt, beds, table, chairs...everything. the 3rd day we finally got to the Salar de Uyuni where we also visited an "island" in the middle of the desert. It was incredible...see the pics. We arrived in the town Uyuni in the afternoon were we took a 10hour bus a few hours later to Potosi and Sucre. Sucre is the second capital of Bolvia and a very pretty colonial style city. All Buildings are white. We will stay in Sucre for the next few days and will continue to La Paz.
Many greetings,
Christina and Sandra
