Celebrations

SOUTH AFRICA | Monday, 8 August 2011 | Views [174]

Yesterday I had the delight of sharing in my grandfather's 90th celebration.  What a feast that was.  I think there was enough chicken to have half a chicken each (no exaggeration).  It was great to see most of my mother's family together, complete with telltale stories of childhood adventures.  And amazing that I could be here to share it with my grandfather.

I've so enjoyed being back.  After my constant declarations of what an amazing day it is, my new flatmate, Lisa, said to me "you're not used to it yet, are you?"  Clear blue sky day after day is still a novelty for me, it would seem.  But what a delightful novelty it is :-)  We went for a walk along the beach this morning.  Ahhhhhhh.  Love it!

And some more good news is that I have been lent a car.  Cape Town without a car is a very small world.  I feel like I'm walking in favour wherever I go.  Piece by piece, its falling into place.
