Adventurous Escapades

Opportunities and learning curves...

SOUTH AFRICA | Thursday, 1 July 2010 | Views [142]

I’ve been back in Cape Town for about 6 weeks which is really hard to believe.  In a little under 3 weeks I’ll be saying goodbye to my beloved home town and will be heading off to the UK to start a whole new adventure.  But Cape Town is proving to be a bit of an adventure too  - apart from world cup fever ;-)  As things have unfolded I suddenly find myself will 6 speaking engagements in one week.  Yep, all in one week.

And boy, am i having fun :-)  I spoke at a very hungry Baptist small group on Wednesday night.  Now this is quite bizarre.  There was a visitor from Arizona in the group.  After I started speaking about Bethel she started chuckling to herself.  Then I realized that she was wearing our Bethel T-shirt from 1st year!  As it turns out, it was the sister of a girl in my class. (Hannah, Katrina Keyes’ sister, for those who know her).  Now that is a strange connection to meet someone like that across the world in Cape Town and she had no idea I was speaking.  We had a good laugh and enjoyed the shared experience of being the only two in the room having tasted of Bethel.  I spoke on the Kingdom and while I was speaking two people got healed.  One woman had put acidic cream in her eye by accident.  As I spoke, the burning sensation completely went away.  Another older woman had had numerous operations on her foot.  She was unable to bend it to the side without pain.  While I was talking, I noticed that she kept bending her foot over.  As it turns out, there was no longer any pain, and she tested it quite thoroughly.  When I’d finished speaking,  it was as if the kingdom was expanding in people’s hearts as they just sat in his presence.

Its definitely a learning experience for me.  I’ve been in hundreds of meetings over the last two years but it’s a very different thing to be leading the meeting yourself.  So the learning curve continues…
