Food in India is tasty. It has to be as
the Indian taste buds are pounded from an early age with all varieties of
masalas, oils, herbs, and seasoning. Even the budget chains like Honest have
delicious dishes, and all less than a pound. Our family favourite was a place called
Bikernawala which did Gujarati thalis; rotis, vegetable masala, paneer masala,
daal, rice and something sweet like Srikand (sweet curd, which might sound yuck
bit actually complements the spices). The photo above was taken at a small
street food shop which sold snacks such as fried banana chips, and sev khatia
(fried gram flour sticks). Chinese
Indian food is quite popular and many of the restaurants offer at least a few
dishes amongst which vegetable manchurian is a popular one. It’s tasty if done
well but heavy on the stomach if not! Other typical dishes I love are: pani
puri, dahi puri, undhiyu, dhokri, loat.
