My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

An Indian Sadhu (holy man) happily shares rice and milk with a litter of stray puppies by the Ganges River. Sadhu's lead a quiet, wandering life, choosing to live away from mainstream society, dwelling in caves, forests, temples and ashrams. They form a unique 'brotherhood' with other Sadhu's, and are well respected throughout India.

These children are fortunate, rising statistics show that less than half of children between the ages of 6 and 14 regularly attend school (approx. 200 million children nationwide).

58 year old Ismail, one of over 8 million of India's cycle rickshaw drivers, peddles through the district of Amritsar, a city in Punjab; the north-western state of India.
Many pilgrims and tourists alike flock to Amritsar's Golden Temple shrine, the cultural and spiritual centre for the Sikh religion, and which attracts more visitors annually than Agra's Taj Mahal.
