At over 4000 m and suffering from the throes of altitude sickness, I awoke on the third day of my Everest trek to this beautiful sight: crystallised ice laced onto the glass of the window next to my bed in sprawling, intricate patterns. In the background, the blurred outlines of distant Himalayan peaks can be seen.
