We are beginning an extended sabbatical that will take us through Europe for roughly five months. I will use this blog to track our progress and provide highlights and commentary on the way. I'm calling this Lapping The World because we intended to circle the planet at least a couple of times in the years to come.

A bit about us: we currently live in the "heart of the Napa Valley". After 30+ years of working in tech for some great companies and making some reasonably good financial decisions we are fortunate to be able to now take some long term trips. In the past we have travelled to 70 countries - and checked off a lot of items on our bucket list including safaris, Egypt, Israel, Easter Island, Patagonia, Angkor Wat, Petra, the Namib desert, and the Great Wall.

In addition to seeing new places and learning about new cultures, our passions are food, wine, art, and history.
