    Skimboarding – In Mati, Davao Oriental, a skim boarding championship wraps up. Each year the Mati hosts a national skim boarding event attracting male boarders nation-wide. Riders from around the country spend a weekend catching waves, and showing off their best tricks to impress the judges. Because of the limited equipment required, skim boarding has become a popular sport and hobby for many men in the Philippines. by: camblair Views[1464] Cockfighting - Each Sunday, after church, Filipino men assemble at the local cockfighting pit in General Luna on Siargao Island. For some people cockfighting is a major source of weekly income, but has also become a highly controversial sport, which has been deemed immoral by animal activists and is often picketed outside of venues by animal rights organizations. by: camblair Views[1235] Boxing Fans – Young boys wait excitedly in General Santos for their hero Manny Pacquiao, a boxing champion, to return home after winning the featherweight world title in Las Vegas. Boxing is considered one of the Philippine’s most proudest national sporting achievements and has gained international recognition for their contribution to professional boxing. by: camblair Views[778] 8-Ball – A group of Filipino men gather around a pool table at the local billiards hall in Davao City. The traditional game of 8-ball is played by thousands of people across the country. The Philippines ranks high in 8-ball championships and has been recognized internationally by the World Eightball Pool Federation for its talented players. by: camblair Views[2583] Beach Basketball – Male teenagers play beach basketball at the small fishing village of San Juan on Siargao Island. The pole is made from a coconut tree trunk and the backboard from scattered wood gathered on the island.
