My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a Hungarian man born and raised in Transylvania. Like other young guys, I had crazy friends, girls, motorcycles, parties, etc. It was a scholarship to Indonesia which got me engaged with a life changing experience.
I was supposed to study Indonesian in school, but I rarely attended my classes; instead, I backpacked from one island to another. It was not the lavish life style as a white guy in a third world country; but, the beauty of Indonesia, like food, landscape, traditions, etc. I learned the language and culture faster than I could’ve done in class. Specifically, I learned about myself as a maturing man. I faced a real life through once-in-a-life experience. I started capturing the experience on pictures, it has now become photography.
Leaving Indonesia and my Indonesian girl was heartbreaking. But, I didn’t give it up. I moved to work in Germany to save money. And, I just married my love; I simultaneously lost my job. With my poor German, it isn’t easy to find a new one. Meanwhile, my wife is stuck in the middle of immigration procedure. Photography isn’t promising, but she encourages me to take the challenge. Winning this scholarship would be the best start.
