The year of my life- Snapshots from a journey of emancipation

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

On a June day in 2012, I waved goodbye from Sydney airport. Camera clutched in hand and rucksack on my back, I was 18 years old and about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. As a child I always had an overwhelming fascination with Great Britain, and with it being the land of my ancestors, it was only natural that Britain was where I would find myself. What I discovered was a land mass rich with more culture and history than i could have ever envisaged. From Welsh Castles to the Morris men of Cornwall; I soaked in all through the lens of my Camera and returned with thousands of photos, each a captured moment telling stories even more colourful. After travelling, there was nothing I enjoyed more than utilising my camera to ensure not a minute was missed. People often asked "don't you get sick of carrying that?" but my camera had become such a part of me that I didn't even notice. I am now so inspired by photography that I need to be given the chance and confidence to learn and take it further. I soon begin a communications degree which I want to use for Travel PR, and I see myself combining this with photography in the future, creating a life where i can follow both passions.
