My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited - Footsteps of the Green Guardian

Gallery Description:
The patterns and textures of nature excite my artistic soul... wanting to respectfully articulate the beauty of nature to all that are not as fortunate to be able to experience or unlock such splendour. The smallest objects are often overlooked for their dullness, yet everything has a unique beauty and lesson to give each of us if we simply take a moment to look more closely to release its particular secret. A simple walk down a beach and into a forest becomes an invigorating journey filled with a multitude of magical discoveries for the adventurer willing to look beyond the immediate.

Photographic Passion:
I am happiest when chasing sunshine through desolate karoo plains, camera in hand; awakening to Tsitsikamma forest birdsong; and dancing on trig beacons high above a restless ocean. It is this untamed rawness that keeps me inspired to travel, photograph and thus create a meaningful existence and add value to the world. I have achieved numerous awards for my photography, including Third Place over two consecutive years in The Fuji National Schools Salon. I have frustratingly spent the last ten years of my life slowly completing a Masters degree in Architecture to satisfy my parents - when all I want to do is travel around the world photographing its wonders - what my friends said I should do at school!

With matters of sustainability and conscious living playing an important role in my worldview, it is my mission to show the beauty of secretive, commonly overlooked aspects of life, through my photographic practices. As well as being passionate about photography and adventure, I believe in using my abilities to become a role model for showing the misguided world about nature conservation through expressing nature's and humanity's integrated beauty through photography.
