WOMAN MUST PAY AFTER PULLING OUT OF SUICIDE BID

Leng Mincui, a farmer in Yunyang county, Henan province, promised Liu Minglan that she would commit suicide with her, but then survived the attempt.  To punish her for her misdeed, a court recently ordered her to pay a 64,131 yuan (about $9,200) penalty.

Leng agreed that they should die together after having a fight, so they went to a local river and dove in together.

However, Leng climbed ashore while Liu drowned.

Liu's family filed a lawsuit against Leng and asked for compensation.

The Yunyang county people's court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, saying Leng had committed murder of intention.
