Photography is a convergence of the senses. A single click of the shutter can capture more than just the visual aspects of a scene. The bustle of a city is heard. Brisk mountain air is felt. A photographer is both a story teller and an artist who strikes an elegant balance between the big picture and the minute detail. By engaging an audience through photos, a photographer inherently has a positive impact on that audience whether by capturing their imagination, conveying the extent of an atrocity or anything in between. In short, photographer’s work can make the world a little bit better.

That’s what I want to do: not just show people the world, but ignite a spark in their mind that says “wow.” My goal is simple: leave the world a better place than when I found it. Since I am not a fireman or a doctor, being a photographer is the noblest thing become.

My dream job has always been to tell the story of the far reaches of the planet through photography, and this contest is my best chance towards learning how to make that dream a reality. I appreciate the opportunity to partake in such a fantastic learning experience!
