Actually had a good nights sleep against all expectations and felt a bit more positive about life in general. Thank the lord for expedia.com. Booked a very nice hotel by the beach in Kamala for a very very nice price. The staff at the hostel were very helpful in helping us get out of there and refunded us a nights stay which was vey kind and we weren't expecting it. Got a taxi to Kamala Beach resort and the views on the way were amazing. The hotel overlooks the sea and we got some brilliant photos of sunsets. Went into Patong to watch the England v USA rugby match in Molly Malones irish bar. We were the only people in there wearing England rugby shirts but it got conversations started with other rugby fans.

Sunday-went off on an excursion to James Bond Island and on an elephant trek. Had a ride in as longtail boat to the island and wandered round for about 20 mins. Views were really stunning although we got soaked in the boat on way to our next stop which was lunch in a floating pikey village. Was actually very tasty - we didnt get robbed and were fairly certain we weren't eating mongrel! Then onto the highlight of the day and something that we both really wanted to do in Thailand- elephant trekking. Got taken down a muddy river- was the best ride of our life! Saw how rubber was extracted from trees and the process that it is turned into sheets of rubber for manufacturing into tyres and condoms. Good to know that your protection came from a natural source.

We are now at Phuket airport wating for a flight to Kuala Lumpa. Getting the night train to Khota Bharu where were then get a boat to the Perhentian Islands to do a PADI diving course. Staying for a week and the island has limited electric supply so prob wont hear from us for a while.
