My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My passion for photography started about 4 years ago while I was travelling in the South of Spain. Travelling alone and feeling totally displaced I discovered that my loneliness and anonymity encouraged creativity and interest in faces and lifestyles. I am currently living in Dublin and my obsession with photographing people has grown. I work in the city center where you may come across the same face many times but never formally meet. Homelessness and drug addiction is a growing problem has become increasingly obvious on the streets of Dublin. "Anywhere is Home" is a project I started 3 years ago. These individuals were appearing in my everyday grind of cycling to work, parking my bike then grabbing a coffee yet they remain a ghost-like burden to society. Often referred to as "the walking dead". The economic crisis has made no difference in their lives as they have had nothing for as long as they can remember. The streets are their home. The individual in my series of photographs "untitled" granted me permission to take photos of him and his pet rabbit. He told me he had been homeless for 8 years and he takes everyday as it comes. These lives are struggling to exist.
