My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Worldwide | Saturday, October 16, 2010 | 5 photos
These images were taken whilst I was on a study tour of Italy. My images are focused on architecture, it being my profession, but another interest of mine is history. I am a full time student, but I like to think of myself as an amateur photographer as well.
To me the images represent my travels of Italy, from Naples, to Ravenna, Florence and back to Rome. They are snapshots in time, in a place that has so much history and has been alive for so long. Walking around ancient towns and places it made me think of the generations of people that have lived in the time of these buildings and what they thought about them. Did they dream that these places would still be standing thousands of years later?
The lack of people in my photographs was not done intentionally, but I can imagine that the histories of these people who have lived in and around these places are ingrained in the buildings. I can almost see a group of people walking through the colonnade of Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza on their way to mass.
I love culture, travelling and learning about new countries and people. This scholarship would allow me to learn more about another culture and its history while also furthering my interest and skills in Photography.
