Once families had been brutally separated, people were stripped of their belongings- even their hair.

Prisoners were sent to Auschwitz by rail before a Nazi 'doctor' assessed every person as to whether they were fit to work or not. Those deemed unfit were never told they faced death.

1.1 million jews, homosexuals, gypsies and asocials were murdered in gas chambers like this one between the years of 1940-1945.
