My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I adore nature and that has always been why I take photos, trying to capture all these beautiful wild things I see, animals, plants, sceneries, little bugs … I can’t keep a tiger at home so I take a photo, print it big, frame and hang it in my room, and there I have my own gorgeous tiger. So naturally, a lot more photos went up the wall. To me, waking up to a roomful of my own photos feels so good and it only makes me want to take more. And seeing old ones from years past juxtaposed against better, newer ones pushes me to improve myself and take better shots. Photography started for me because I wanted to record what I see or where I’ve been, and now it has become a passion of snapping tons of nice photos. Where it will take me next, I hope somewhere along the path of professional wildlife photography, but which is as of now really a dream. Nevertheless, I certainly foresee myself continuing to learn and to shoot a lot more photos of animals, and everything in my travels, and continuing to fill my room up with decent photos I proudly call my own.
If I got chosen, it will not only be me living my dream taking photos of wild African animals out in the African terrains, but also the best opportunity for me to hone and master my photography skills under Jason Edward’s mentorship, especially travel and wildlife photography. I want to take photos of animals wild and free, photos of the threats they are facing, and to take photos that could help contribute however much I could to the public awareness of the plight of all animals in our world today.
