My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Throughout history, mankind has always felt a need for visual references to past events. While the human imagination serves this purpose to a point, it is still hard to beat an actual image representation of what happened. From the ancient drawings found on cave walls depicting hunts and battles, to present day photographs of weddings, newborns, and holidays; we always have, and, most likely, always will, long for those visual reminders of significant events past.
What has changed between now and the days of crushed plant-life being smeared on walls, is that now our visual reminders no longer convey merely the story but, with the right amount of skill, can convey the tale in a manner that, even those who were not present at the time, can feel the same emotions of excitement, fear, mourning, anxiety or any number of possibilities.
It is this ability that fascinates me, and which I strive to achieve through my photography. I like to think that my abilities are above the average facebook-posting individual, but I know that the ceiling for what I can still learn is limitless.
This scholarship would be an unbelievable opportunity to learn, and further my understanding of this art-form.
