My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Purposefully named after the song with the same title. I marveled at this 1950s taxi. Why? Because when you are from the third world, it is always amusing to see first-hand the elements of large cities as depicted by television. To me the yellow taxi is a symbol, a reflection of a well thought transportation system that is still to reach remote parts of the globe.

Standing at the shoreline of Qualicum, Vancouver Island Canada, staring at the horizon, my view pleasingly obstructed by mountains, I would oft' think of my home the Caribbean. The difference between the cultures and what my future might be in a place that is not my home.

Traveling to other lands is often exciting. You get to play out your expectations of your arrival in your head, but as animated, vivid or dramatic as it may be, it never matches the sight that visits you especially looking out of the plane’s window. This aerial shot of vast Canada is one of the many scapes that prove this notion true. On a trip by airplane across Canada (east to west) you are likely to see over 5 different types of terrains and by extension ecosystem. A reminder of how environmental diversity in isolation results in beauty cumulatively
