My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Namibia | Wednesday, January 2, 2013 | 5 photos
My name is Begona Foncueva, a 'dinkidi' (double income no kids dog instead) who lives in Melbourne Australia, spanish born, australian raised, 60s child, bilingual, world traveller, animal lover. Recent travels to Botswana & Namibia in Africa have reignited my passion for photography. 2012 was a year of many firsts, first time on safari, first visit to desert dunes and the centre of death valley, first sighting of an unfamiliar animal - the aardwolf, first experience of a mock charge by an oryx, hearing swahili & click language for the first time. After my husband was diagnosed with MND in June11 we decided to experience Africa while he was still mobile. Inspired by watching our favourite nature programs on Nat Geo we were excited to find ourselves so close to animals you could hear them breathe. After being widowed in June12 and looking to reinvent myself I would relish the opportunity to be mentored so my photos better reflect what the eye sees, the ears hear and the heart feels. As the selected candidate I look forward to more firsts in Oman from rare sightings of arabian leopards & oryx, desert fox, Muscat birdlife to souks, bedouins and even fly fishing.
