Hello!
My name is Sumayya and I am an aspiring photojournalist. I turn to photography to unwind and more importantly tell a story through my lenses.

Growing up in three different continents has helped me appreciate the richness in every culture that I have encountered. I always try to accurately portray it through photography by making someone a protagonist for a few seconds. Those few seconds will result in a product that would outlive them to tell a story generations later, and this is what I find most rewarding; documenting history.

I think this will be a great opportunity for me to go beyond the self-taught glass ceiling and dive into the realm of professional photographers. I believe that mentorship is the best kind of learning, and I am looking forward to work with Jason Edwards in a culturally and historically rich country like Oman. However, most importantly, I would love to learn how to capture beauty in a discrete manner as that would help me marry my two passions, photography and activism.
