I have been
thinking since some time about those Egyptians who live in the shadow
without knowing anything about their life and culture, and I searched till
I found an event that's held every year that gathers different tribes from
Egypt to communicate and deal with the cities’ residents.
When I
was in the location, I planned to interview several presenters from each
tribe and ask them about several aspects in their life, and concerning the
footage I took as much different general shots for the place and the
people and concentrated on shots that shows their culture with all its
aspects. Then I reviewed
the material and selected the angle that my piece will show and started to
select the most suitable bites and footage till i did a piece of 6 minutes then
cut it down to 3 minutes without messing with the idea.
Production
was the main challenge I faced, the project is a one-man-show project, and I
had to travel a very long distance alone with all the equipment in order
to reach the tribes' gathering location and shoot. Also the accent was
a problem, their own language isn’t familiar to ours so communication
wasn't an easy process.
I'm
looking forward being a one-man-show documentary maker who's specialised
in showing what's hidden in our life and in different cultures, in
showing the bright side of everything. I believe that our role is to give out
the positive energy through what we present to help get the best out
of people.
