Canada - Australia

Oh my word! I woke up so sick on Saturday. My throat was killing me, my head hurt, I was so tired and couldn't do anything. I was trying so hard to pack everything away and clean but I was moving so slowly. Didn't help that the night before I didn't sleep at all because I was doing photos and then for a few hours.

We (dad deanne terry rae roger gene and I) all went for breakfast at hotshots so I could say goodbye to Ayu. I didn't get to eat what I wanted because I couldn't swallow but it was still worth it. Rae-anne took the day off work so she could hang out with me but I was so sick that I'm sure it wasn't fun for her. I still feel really bad about it. Her and Terry helped me a lot with packing, threw garbage out, brought stuff upstairs/downstairs, did all the little things for me as I lay crying on the floor.

It was all of a sudden time to leave, I quickly finished everything and off we went. Karissa had joined us for dinner and came up to the airport too which was nice. Just before we left I got really sick and felt like I was going to throw up but after taking two gravol it went away and the ride to the airport was smooth. Being there was weird and I realized I forgot my medicine which wasn't cool at all! but Roger, my hero, went back and got it for me. We took pics of everyone with everyone and I'm sure I looked like Hell! Gene was a little sweetheart giving me hugs and kisses. So glad he wasn't shy my last night in Cranbrook.

Was weird saying goodbye, it wasn't sad, but when my plane started to take off and I saw them all waving I thought, "Wow, I'm not going to see any of them for a very long time." That's hard.

My Granny and Brother were at the airport in Vancouver which was totally awesome :) I'm so glad I got to see them before I left. I was super sick and tired so it was hard to stay awake or smile in the four photos we took but I'm so glad they came! My brother is huge and skinny and growin up! It's crazy how different he is when I see him once a year. I slept pretty much all the way to Sydney 11 hours. Woke up for breakfast watched Bolt and Yes Man, some Simpsons and wrote in my journal. My throat was so sore that I had to borrow a pen and write on a piece of paper to the stewardesses. Smooth!

Landing in Sydney was awesome. Every inch of me started sweating as soon as I got off though. People were looking at me and asking me "Where did you come from?" "I left snow!" I'd say. They all laughed at me. I left myself lots of time to get through customs but after changing, getting through customs, quarinteen and getting my luggage I still had 11 hours to waste. Too bad the Sydney Airport has NOTHING! I sat outside for a while, repacked my bag, enjoyed the warmth, breeze and birds and then headed to the domestic airport on a bus. $5.50 pffft. Sat in the Domestic airport for a little while, got really bored, but then some people sat around me. There were only about 48 chairs and alittle Jamaica Cafe. Turns out all the stuff to do is on the other side of checkin and we weren't allowed to check in until two hours before our flight.

I talked with the folks around me, who just got off a cruise and are headed back to Melbourne, for four hours. They had been asking their Airline if they could check in but they kept saying no. I finally decided to ask my Airline and they said "Anytime love!" Wow. Smooth Ash. I said fairwell, checked in my bags, went through security and walked in to a shopping mall with a full size food court. Not impressed that I sat outside but those people were awesome to talk to for four hours so it wasn't time wasted in vain. Turns out they could have checked their bags in too. I saw them a few minutes after I went through. We all laughed about it and said our goodbyes. I shopped the entire place, very slowly, every isle, and still had two hours to waste. I listened to the first part of my audio book, wrote in my journal and watched some Australian Deal or No Deal.

Finally it was time to jump on my plane to Brisbane. It was packed, so many people and a crying baby. I slept to Brisbane, it was a short flight, but woke near the other side because the baby was crying so bad. I started to get frustrated then stopped myself and decided to pray for the child instead. The pain in the child's ears was probably very uncomfortable. The child stopped crying almost immidiately. Crazy!

Zach was waiting for me on the other side. So great to see someone I know. No more traveling today! It was not Monday night (I had completely skipped Sunday) and I was ready for bed. When we got home his mom made some eggs to see if I could get them down but my throat hurt too bad. We visited a bit and then, 11pm, I joyfully crawled in to bed with a fan going all night (hot and humid!). There are many birds out which is an interesting way to fall asleep but reasuring because I am finally in Australia.
