June, 07, 2007 : A note of my travels abroad for the first time as a journalist.
Unicatay travel and tour SDN.BHD QKV 2929 is bring the group of journalist went to Kuching, Malaysia. We were check in at the Merdeka Hotel, Tun Abang Haji Openg Street, 93000, Kuching. At 12.05 PM, we were queuing at the reception desk to get a room key. The key was like an electronic card, that used too in the elevator to reach the room.
Room 412 is like 'my home' as long as our visited in Kuching. The room was measuring 6x4 meters. Two single beds restricted to a small table with a radio connection to the drawer that will turn on automatically with lights. Right side of the room used for wardrobe. Beside the cabinet, leaned a wooden table which is used to place a 17-inch television. Behind the television, at the middle wall of cream-colored room, hanging two-story framed photograph compiled.
Photo at the top titled ruckshaw 1950. This photo shows the old transportation such as two-wheel ruckshaw pulled by hand. In the under, a photo titled Main Bazaar 1948. This photo illustrates the old market in Kuching. An other photo, is located in the center of the left side of the room wall. Image of a street with an old building called Khoo Hun Yeang Street.
There is a lamp in the corner. A table with a carpet pad is on next to lights. Divider door between bedroom and bathroom attached to a long glass. Bathroom with shower in the room was the size of 1x1 meters with doors made of glass. I took a shower and rest awhile. I was very tired because the trip is more than 12 hours in the bus.
At 14.00 PM, I was in the hotel lobby waiting for other journalists. All the journalists had gathered at 14.30 PM. And then, we were went to the Cat Muzium located on the lower floor Bandaraya Kuching Utara, Bukit Siol, Semariang Road, Petra Jaya.
The trip to the museum from the hotel past the long bridge that connects the area of Petra Jaya and Kuching Selatan. Both areas are restricted by 130 km along the Sarawak River. This river is directly toward the South China Sea. It was takes 30 minutes from the hotel to get to the place. The museum location is on top of the hill and shows the beautiful views of the city of Kuching.
Cat muzium consists of four parts of the gallery. The first part called the Gallery A, contains the statue of Kuching in various shapes made of ceramic material. The second called the Gallery B, contains pictures and captions assorted cats. The third called Gallery C, contains cat stories of ethnic Malays, Chinese, and Japanese. The fourth called Gallery D, contains shelves with a variety of cats that have been preserved. Cat Muzium built in Sarawak in 1987. This is a complete cat museum in the world. Collection contains the original cats that inhabit the island of Borneo.
