Sunday, Malaca, being a Portuguese, it was very interesting to go there. Malaca was colonized by the Portuguese in the Golden Age of the country, so I went to a museum that tells the story of the town. Being part of a colonizing country we are thought in an absolute different perspective, as a colonizer the view that is propagated is that the colonizer take civilization to the "barbarians". Malaca had huge history and rich culture and structure before that. I guarantee that while reading the texts in the museum I half expected to read "god damn f@cking Portuguese came here and f@cked everything up". Dissapointingly I didn't.
Malaca is a nice town, old. With a very old feeling to it, but nice notheless.
On Monday it was the biggest dissapointment. After driving a few hundred kilometers towards Mersing in order to go to Tioman or "Paradise" Island, the monsoon wheather prevented the ferry from sailing. This meant a change of plans and back to KL for a few more days, including christmas eve and day.
Nothing much during these days, food and relaxing mainly. It's interesting spending christmas in a country that isn't catholic. really interesting. Everything is decorated, music and themes are everywhere but... there is no feeling, it's like a really pretty empty package. I am not complaining, I know that here there are other celebrations that are more important, like the Chinese New Year, but it is really interesting to see the adaptation to it.
