We cherish our conquests: A Sikh jawan hard at work to clear a treacherous mountain pass. The perpetual landslides inundating these mountains keep rendering the roads useless, and man in almost an act of defiance keeps building them back come hell or high water.

We fight over it: Kargil - One of the highest militarized zones in the world and the site for the most bloody conflict in recent times; took this whilst an unending army convoy was going past us, but even they had to stop to let the sheep pass through!

We even worship it: Tibetan prayer flags at Thiksey Gompa. The Ladakhi people with primarily Buddhist origins are the most hardy and peaceful folk who respect and have been at peace with nature and their surroundings since eons. A trip to a Gompa such as this can prove to be quite a spiritually uplifting experience.
