A child wearing a grass skirt squats beside a path. To make money for their families, they are sent out to sing and dance for the tourists; something most children do for fun or as part of imaginary games, but never for their livelihood.

Meet the women of Pentecost Island, Vanuatu. Completely foreign to the many tourists that visit their home by way of cruise ships. Language, tradition, and culture separating one from the other. It is in this place that one will find difference and similarity intertwined; questioning: “Are we really worlds apart?”

On an island filled with tourists exploring, locals singing, dancing and living, sits a woman in the opening of her door. So often in life we are never alone, surrounded by people. Yet, we still feel the sting of loneliness. We are significant and insignificant in this world we share.
