She who flows Calmly. River Mandakini is a tributary of the Alaknanda River which flows through Syalsaur, near Rudraprayag, Uttrakhand, India. Meaning of Mandakini: The prefix "mand" (Sanskrit) means "calm" and "unhurried", and Mandakini thus signifies "she who flows calmly".

Filling my Soul. The first morning I woke up to capture the Mandakini river, I adjusted my tripod and was waiting for the right sunrise time. As the little bit of light struck the area, it felt a sense of serene beauty and I could feel the calmness of the river. I just sat there filling my eyes with the breathtaking view in search of some peace. This was an experience of a lifetime and now it does not exist as this place is now fully submerged in mud due to the recent Uttrakhand Flash Floods.
