A Tanzanian Love Affair

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

During high school I visited Tanzania and instantly fell in love with the country. After finishing school, I joined a volunteer organisation and returned to Tanzania, living there for 3 months as part of a camp of volunteers. These photos capture the story of my Tanzania. For me, there is no one story from my time there; there are a multitude of small and memorable moments that combine together.

I am a true blue Aussie, born and bred, and am currently studying marine biology in Queensland. I am addicted to animals and was on occasion called 'nature girl' as a child, most notably as I ran after a rather un-obliging kangaroo trying to feed it some oats. I am a complete amateur photographer - I have no fancy equipment, no flash camera, and no training. What I do have, is an absolute passion, for learning, for life and for experiencing the amazing world we live in; and sharing that experience. There is so much emotion to be caught on film, and I love taking the challenge of trying to get that shot where people can look at it, and feel the emotion of the scene. I want to really learn how to capture and express emotion with my photographs.

I'm a taurus, love long walks on the beach and have a great sense of humour. I am an open-minded individual who is passionate and has what can only be called a lust for adventure, wildlife and travel. This opportunity would help me further develop my photography ambitions. I would be honoured to receive this scholarship and be tutored by someone who has such incredible photography skills and experience. If you see anything in me, then please give me this chance to prove myself.
